F1PL was started in 1999, when a small group of friends decided to see who would be best at predicting the result of F1 races. There were emails for submissions and spreadsheets for results, and it was all very basic.
After a year off, in 2003 this website was born, and it was effectively open to anyone who came across it, although it was still very much a small site, catering for friends and friends of friends. There wasn't much money in the budget for advertising. There wasn't really a budget at all.
For 2012, after another couple of lost years, the site has been revamped, but is pretty much the same as it always was. But totally different too.

A Patreon account is in the process of being set up, with appropriate awards for those that want to contribute. I can't imagine that there will be a large monthly subscription, and F1PL will continue to be free, but it might be fun to try some different things, if there's an appetite for it. Check back later!
